adidas' Originals official re-issue of the West Germany away shirt for Euro '88 and World Cup Italia '90. Possibly better recognised for the semi-final defeat of England at Italia '90 the shirt. along with the iconic 'vector' home shirt was originally released for Euro '88 hosted by West Germany. Horst Dassler succeeded his mother as head of the brand with three stripes 4 years earlier and declared he wanted “Bold, Loud and Visible” shirts for the adidas licensed teams at the European Championship to be held in adidas' home country. The home and away designs by Ina Franzman ended up being so popular that they were retained for the World Cup two years later. Where the team lead by Manager Franz Beckenbauer and Captain Lothar Matthäus would win the tournament, beating the holders Argentina in the final.
